When I think about volunteers, I think about the inspirational words of John Bunyan who said, “You have not lived today until you have done something for someone who can never repay you.”
As volunteers for Can Do Canines, giving your time means that you give of your life and do for others in ways that they can never repay. Take pride in your accomplishments. As you volunteer your time, you share your life with others and you change the world. Can Do Canines depends on your volunteer efforts everyday. You are our partners in providing these special dogs, these special gifts to our clients. Thank you for all you do.
As the executive director, I want to express our heartfelt appreciation to all of you who help us accomplish such phenomenal results. We simply couldn’t do this work without our many volunteer partners in the process of finding, raising, training and finally placing an assistance dog with its partner. I want to acknowledge your tremendous support:
- The volunteers who maintain compassionate, hands-on contact with our dogs, including puppy raisers, foster families, breeder hosts, whelping homes, inmates, dog walkers, groomers, and so many others.
- The volunteers who help in so many ways, from selling candy, to mowing the grass, to organizing fundraising events, to serving on the board of directors. All of these people are vital to the success of our organization.
- The graduates themselves, who so often volunteer to share their story with potential contributors and new volunteers.
As you can see, volunteers provide an enormous amount of human effort—that is further enhanced by the tireless devotion of a few remarkable dogs. Your participation as a volunteer gives life to our mission and gives meaning to our work. Thank you for your generosity of spirit.
Together, we change lives for the better—canine and human lives!
