MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) – They’re $10,000 dogs, sold to a vulnerable population with the promise of offering safety and protection, but some Minnesota and Wisconsin families who bought in can’t believe what they’ve got. Graduate Terri Krake and her Seizure Assist Dog Brody were featured on FOX9 at 9. While some service dogs have been trained to help people with epilepsy detect when a seizure is about to happen, one Twin Cities dog is helping his human stop seizing after the episodes start. Most people who suffer from epilepsy can’t detect when a seizure is coming on, but they can use a device called the Vergus Nerve Stimulation, which reduces the number and length of seizures and can even stop them with the help of a special magnet — but the magnet is useless …
