The dogs are provided to the client at no charge. The organization is supported primarily by donations from individuals, corporations, service clubs, and foundations.
Job Summary: Performs actions to provide support to Puppy Program volunteers, clients, and graduates to carry out the mission of the organization
Salary: Non-Exempt, $19-$21/hour, based on experience
Benefits: Qualifies for PTO accrual
Hours Required: Part-time 20-30 hours per week, including occasional weekend and evening hours

Frequent Interactions With: Director of Training, Veterinary Technician, Puppy Program Manager, Prison Program Manager, Breeding Coordinator, Staff Veterinarians
Primary Duties and Responsibilities
- Provide in-house support regarding medical issues or concerns, as well as routine vaccinations and medical testing, including x-rays, to program dogs as needed.*
- Maintain and update dog records to ensure proper documentation is kept on all dogs in the program.*
- Maintain medical records of dogs in the Puppy Program and in the breeding program.*
- Assist volunteers and clients with medical concerns regarding Can Do Canines dogs.*
- Maintain medical inventory and supplies for the Puppy Program.*
- Assist in filling medicine and food requests for Puppy Program dogs.*
- Provide backup for the Veterinary Technician on multiple items, including but not limited to scheduling medical appointments for program dogs, ordering medical supplies, and preparing documentation for dogs transferring to other organizations or other homes.*
- Communicates with veterinary and correctional partners.*
- Other duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications
Experience
A veterinary assistant background with experience working in the small-animal veterinary field and experience in dog obedience training and dog behavior.
Education
Associate degree or higher in related field.
