Overview

Can Do Canines is dedicated to enhancing the quality of life for people with disabilities by creating mutually beneficial partnerships with specially trained dogs. The dogs are provided to the client at no charge. The organization is supported primarily by donations from individuals, corporations, service clubs, and foundations.

Job Title: Kennel Staff
Job Summary: Provide excellent care for our dogs at our facility
Classification: Non-Exempt, Hourly
Salary: $14+/hour
Hours Required: Part Time - including evenings and weekends. Some holidays are required. Approximately 5-15 hours per week, across 1-3 shifts.

Relationships

Reports to: Kennel Manager
Positions Supervised: None
Frequent Interactions With: Kennel Staff, Program Trainers

Primary Duties and Responsibilities

  • Feed and care for our program dogs at our facility.*
  • Conduct heavy-duty cleaning of kennels & other various cleaning tasks.*
  • Manage groups of dogs for exercise time.*
  • Bathe and groom dogs. Administer various medications as needed.*
  • Feed, clean up after, and care for two facility cats.*
    *Denotes essential functions of job

Required Qualifications

Education: None

Experience:

  • 1+ year experience working with dogs.
  • Must be over the age of 18.
  • Have a hardworking and positive attitude and a love for dogs!
  • Demonstrated reliability and excellent attendance record.
  • Must be able to lift up to 60 pounds.

Preferred Qualifications

Experience:

  • 2+ years experience with dogs in a kennel environment

14. Sit for long periods of time: Rarely
15. Stand for long periods of time: Daily
16. Work in small or cramped spaces: Occasionally
17. Perform work using a telephone: Sometimes
