Can Do Canines is a fully accredited member of Assistance Dogs International (ADI).
ADI is comprised of nonprofit assistance dog programs like Can Do Canines from around the world. Together, these programs both define and uphold industry standards. Why? Because ADI members believe that assistance dog handlers trust their lives and safety to their dogs, so everything related to the training of both the dogs and people must meet extraordinary criteria.
The perks of receiving a dog from an ADI accredited organization are many!

Many of Can Do Canines procedures go above and beyond what is asked by the ADA or state regulations for assistance dog use. This is due to our accreditation though the ADI and our commitment to the highest standards. Some examples of what we do differently:
-
Our dogs must pass several health clearances and are altered prior to placement.
-
Potential clients must undergo an interview and verification process.
-
Dogs and handlers are required to meet specific hours in training before certification.
-
Each team is certified through a standardized Public Access Test .
-
Each team completes a Skills Test, verifying the dog performs at least three trained tasks for their handler to mitigate their disability.
-
Dogs are required to wear equipment displaying the Can Do Canines logo in public.
-
Following certification, teams are provided with an identification card, which they are expected to carry.
-
Handlers must provide ongoing veterinarian evaluations and progress reports regarding the team.
